Educational retreat in tbilisi, georgia

home is where we are

This retreat’s topic “Home is where we are” dictated the visual concept heavily. I tried to reflect the idea of home being a place as well as a feeling, which is very relevant to target audience that immigrated and moves homes a lot. The idea of tent came to me after discussing the project ideas with the client - we wanted to create a feeling of childhood and building forts at home using pillows and chairs. The more we talked we started to realize that the tent is seen in various Jewish texts as well as holidays. It creates a feeling of safety, but has a delicate construction at the same time, requiring us to trust the world around. I wanted to add more Jewish symbols, so you will find Judaica items near the tent like besamim and Havdallah candle.

Below you will see the final version of the design as well as two other concepts that I prepared in sketches.

“Home isn’t where you’re from, it’s where you find light when all grows dark.” - Pierce Brown
